I need help with a data recovery issue for some of our users. We have a Microsoft 365 tenant, and licenses for 17 users were removed on June 27, 2025. These user mailboxes were not converted to shared mailboxes, and no holds or retention policies were applied to them. I now need to access the data from these mailboxes.

Is there any possible way to recover the mailbox data after this amount of time? I understand the default 30-day soft-delete period has expired.

If the data is truly unrecoverable, what are the best practices for offboarding users in the future to prevent this from happening again? We have only 3 users now and the licenses are the Microsoft 365 Business Basic licenses.
